Seven signs your website is quietly costing you leads
Most underperforming websites do not look broken. They just make it slightly too hard for the right people to say yes.
A website rarely fails loudly. It keeps running, it looks fine to you, and enquiries slowly dry up. Here are seven signs we see again and again when businesses ask us why their site is not bringing in leads.
1. Can visitors tell what you do in five seconds?
If your homepage headline is clever but vague, people leave. State what you do, who it is for and what makes you different, in plain words, at the top of the page.
2. Is the mobile experience an afterthought?
Most visitors arrive on a phone. Tiny text, buttons that are hard to tap and menus that hide key pages all push people away before they read a word.
3. Is the site slow?
Every extra second of loading costs attention. Oversized images, heavy plugins and too many scripts are the usual causes, and most are fixable.
4. Is there a clear next step?
Every important page should end with one obvious action: book a call, request a quote or contact you. If visitors have to search for it, many will not bother.
5. Is there proof?
People trust other customers more than they trust your copy. Testimonials, case studies, client names and examples of work do more for conversions than any headline. See how we present ours on our work page.
6. Does the contact form ask for too much?
Long forms with mandatory fields for budget, company size and phone number create friction. Ask for what you need to reply well, and nothing more.
7. Does your brand look different everywhere?
When your website, social profiles and proposals all look different, people notice, even if they cannot say why. Consistency builds trust.
What should you fix first?
Pick the two signs that apply most to your site and fix those first. If several apply, a website redesign may be faster than patching. Our redesign checklist helps you plan it, and we are happy to review your site on a free call.
